I created The Girl Next Door is Black in 2012 because I didn’t see voices like mine well-represented in the entertainment or news media. It’s important that people from marginalized groups have the platform to speak for themselves and present their perspective to the world without it being filtered through someone else’s lens.
When I created the blog, I didn’t anticipate its evolution into a digital venue for discussion of race, class, media criticism, and general social commentary visited by readers from all over the world.
If you like what I do or my writing has moved you in some way, please consider supporting me. I’d rather run a reader-supported blog than have ads clutter up valuable space on my site. Thank you!
